On November 19from 6 to 7 p.m. Dr. Dale Cockrell and the cast of Elon Theater Company’s production of “A Laura Ingalls Wilder Christmas” (by Laurie Brooks) will be sharing reflections and insights on the music of the beloved “Little House on the Prairie Series” at the Spring Hill Public Library (144 Kedron Pkwy, Spring Hill, TN 37174).
Cockrell is Director of the Center for Popular Music at Middle Tennessee State University, Professor of Musicology Emeritus (Vanderbilt University), and a Research Associate of the University of the Free State (South Africa). He has published thirteen books and editions of music and more than one hundred articles on popular music.
He is the founder and president of The Pa’s Fiddle Project, an educational, scholarly, and musical program dedicated to recording the music of the Little House books and reconnecting the nation’s children with the rich music legacies embedded in them. Recordings he has produced include performances by Mac Wiseman, Pat Enright, Bryan Sutton, Butch Baldassari, Riders in the Sky, and others.
The Elon Theater Company is a new non-denominational Christian theater company and “A Laura Ingalls Wilder Christmas” is their inaugural show. It will be held at the Spring Hill Middle School auditorium on Thursday, Dec. 19 through 21.
Advance tickets will be available at this presentation. This will be the only opportunity to purchase tickets before Dec. 4.A set of the “Little House” books will also be given away.
